Encrypt the web: Install HTTPS Everywhere today.

HTTPS Everywhere is a very notable project by the Electronic Frontier Foundation which is currently pushing for the adoption of HTTPS across the web. With its Firefox Extension "HTTPS Everywhere", your Firefox browser will check whether the site you're browsing has an secure version and then redirect you to it.

The usage of HTTPS instead of standard HTTP connections provides users with an extra layer of security across every step of the route from the server to your browser. Indeed, HTTPS Everywhere supports many different web sites and notably Google, Wikipedia, Facebook, several newspapers and more.

In terms of function, this extension should really not add much of a burden to the speed at which your browser operates, depending on the server Firefox is connecting to.

With the revelations that many governments are reading what users across the globe are accessing, using HTTPS adds an extra layer of protection to your personal privacy.
